Episode Description:
Jerry is treated in an alien hospital after unknowingly ingesting some bacteria stored by Rick in a pint of Cherry Garcia. While his family is in the waiting room, watching an assortment of TV channels from alternate realities, Jerry is asked by doctors to donate his penis, to be converted into a replacement heart to save the life of civil rights activist Shrimply Pibbles. Jerry complies, but publicly tries to talk his way out of it nonetheless. This causes Jerry to be hated by the public, but also raises awareness as well as money to buy a synthetic heart for Pibbles. Eventually, Jerry changes his mind and holds the doctors hostage, demanding that they go through with the transplant procedure, but Security stops him. The family is then sent home, with Beth chastising Jerry that he shouldn’t care so much about what strangers think of him.
Show Description:
After having been missing for nearly 20 years, Rick Sanchez suddenly arrives at daughter Beth’s doorstep to move in with her and her family. Although Beth welcomes Rick into her home, her husband, Jerry, isn’t as happy about the family reunion. Jerry is concerned about Rick, a sociopathic scientist, using the garage as his personal laboratory. In the lab, Rick works on a number of sci-fi gadgets, some of which could be considered dangerous. But that’s not all Rick does that concerns Jerry. He also goes on adventures across the universe that often involve his grandchildren, Morty and Summer.

"A penis for a heart,yes"
I thought you worked in advertising…?
Rick's true feelings for Jerry is coming out soon.
We all wanted to like Jerry in the beginning.
Genuinely man, the first interdimensional cable had a great B plot. The Jerry Beth fighting over their alternative selves and Summer finding out they nearly aborted her. Ending in the alternative Beth and Jerry getting together on the tv and Morty's great speech to Summer about his grave outside.
The Plumbus official instruction manual is pretty fantastic if you ever want to look it up for a good laugh.
This one still breaks the streak for me in terms of the bad drunken improv, but lots of great episodes ahead too.
There is no sensible, reasonable person in Rick and Morty. Also, you weren't entirely wrong, early in the series Jerry was written a bit differently than he was later.
Most people prefer the first Interdimentional Cable, but I respect those who prefer the second.
The first episode is better for continuity, but the second is better for the alternate cable realities. In my opinion at least.
Loving the Jan-Michael quadrant reactions, keep it Vincent!
Jerry really goes through the wringer on this one.
Neither of the interdimensinal cable episodes are my fave. Im not sure if either one is objectively good but theres no TV show ever created that has a 100% success rate with their episodes. Theres a few episodes of rick and morty that i actually dont like and have only seen once. That being said i still think the peaks of rick and morty are some of the best in the business and i also think its very impressive that 95% of the episodes ARE rewatchable and successful. Every season has top 10 episodes, the later seasons have slightly more misses mixed in tho. Not trying to spoil i just love the discussion….
They all have points when they seem grounded or reasonable and I think that is one of the reasons everything works so well.
