Holy shit that girl has a huge mouth and nose.
interesting theyre talking about overarching arcs and lore but at this pont the episodes were still random and the writers werent even sure it'd be renewed. they didnt really want it to be renewed and wrote season 1 as mostly discontinuous with running gags because it as supposed to be its own short stint. It only developed lore because rabid fans are rabid and when the studio demands more episodes you gotta pull something out yor butt

one theory is that Mr Poopy Butthole is a Meta-Parasite. He has infested the viewers' memory. That's why he appears in the opening sequence. Anything happening within the series isn't a negative memory for a viewer who likes the show. Better start counting people 😉

There's a theory that each episode takes place in a different but very similar dimension and thats why each episode feels so stand-alone

There's 2 crazy theories about Mr. Poopybutthole, one that says that Mr. Poopybutthole is the alpha parasite, due to he is the one who tells to the family to start remembering, the other says that he is from another dimension and the family we see in the episode is not the one from c-137, it's from another dimension where Mr. Poopybutthole has always been part of the family

The opening credits show that Mr Poopy Butthole is actually real, because he is in all of the bad memories.

I think Mr. Poopy Butthole is still a parasite. The audience is infected with him, and we have only fond (funny) memories of him.
It's theorized that this episode takes place in a completely different universe and these aren't the same Rick and Morty that we have been watching. That would explain the memories and why Mr. Poopy-butthole is shown as always having been a part of their adventures.

Total Rickall should have come straight after Rick Potion #9, explaining Mr. Poopy Butthole's sudden appearance.
A little late but the first person he shot that you were mentioning, Brooklyn accent, wasn't a random guess. The second he called Mr. Poopybutthole Mr. Poopypants made him suspicious.
