The whole making a statement too obvious is exactly the trap Chris Chibnall falls into a couple of times in thirteens second season.
Paula is looking beautiful in that sweater! <3 My crush on her has grown two sizes!
I really do think you'd both really appreciate Bojack Horseman if you gave it a chance. Very dark and hard to watch at times, but very *good*. It's hard to initially get your head around it, but once you do, it's brilliant TV.

Another layer of pain. Rick goes a night and day without anyone checking on him. The family doesn't care. What if he'd been successful in turning himself into ash? What would Beth think? How did she put it? "Go away and never come back"?
yall are some of the most beautiful people I've ever seen.
Where does right girl live that she can keep soft hair in the winter months?
i forgot gallifrey girls.
i thought this was the girl showing her friend who wasaboy (bnot NOT A BOYFRIEND PERIOD)
Anyone who says this show is just a cartoon really doesn't understand how a show works or how messages are portraited like how Ricks existential nihilism is shown as much as possible in his self destruction personality, not to the level of bojack, but to the point where he becomes relatable where he feels nothing but pain and wants shows what accepting reality really is and looks like
Paula is bang on with the "Dan Harmon is working through stuff" comment, just look at the end cards…
Incidentally, the full Community scene – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8Bi2RLiphY
It's interesting with Rick and Morty where it's fun to look at the character stuff, and even though they do the 'reset'/'everything is back to normal at the end' thing, stuff still sticks with he characters and they develop and change a bit.
It definitely toes the line between episodic and linear, and as they get renewed for a tonne of episodes you can tell they're trying to find that balance between 'stick on an episode and have fun' and 'make these characters and overall story interesting'.
It also has the problem of high fan expectations, so they've had to move away from too much lore, which is sad, but I appreciate why.
The next one is one of my favorites.

I love this song, and it literally makes me depressed every time I hear it now..lol
Glad you commented on the Community call back…Rick actually directs the characters and cancels the show then brings it back
Awwwww… No race war… 🙁
you guys should checkout bojack horseman
this episode breaks my collective hearts
A lot of the comments hit the nail on the head. It's not just a silly sci-fi comedy show. I mean it is that but a lot more. Rick is basically a nihilistic god. Rick can change anything he wants about the universe but he can't make himself happy.
I've had days where I played the 3 hour YouTube video version of Do You Feel It.
The cat really really really wants attention
Rick attempting and failing to commit suicide is somehow the most depressing and most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen, both at the same time.
It's true though, the water from Katrina's bathroom sink is the best.
The little critter Rick kills at the end is said to be a frozen Cronenberg. Rick kills it because he thinks he won't be around to fix what he did in season one.
I was so high watching the episode that the ending hit me twice as hard
Now we know why Morty is into redheads.
Love the reactions, and the channel! Rick is a broken person, and broken people can relate to his despair and what triggers that. This ending hit a lot of people in many different ways, and while it appears to be a twist, remember that Rick is and always has been in pain according to Bird Person. And give the cat more running sink water!
I do like R&M for those moments of reflection and recognition about one's own most deeply rooted issues – it can really hit you sometimes. Though often enough, because Rick is such an outlandish character in such outlandish situations, there's a certain distance we as viewers have.
But in all the Film-dramas and TV-shows, none has ever hit as hard as the king of painful introspection wrapped in engrossing, creative, clever and funny context – Bojack Horseman. Takes a little while to hit its stride (by the second season) – but it honestly became the deepest, most heartfelt and honest reflection of generational cycles of cruel and self-destructive behavior, addiction, depression, anxiety, self-loathing – and the difficulty but necessity of change. No show has made me laugh. reflect… and bawl my eyes out like that one. (Also – one of the best portrayals of dementia and psychological trauma in media).
I would love for you to watch Bojack Horseman together – I think you'd have some interesting thoughts and comments.
Another great cat video!
I feel like this episode is the perfect summation of Rick and Morty as a TV show – beneath the crude humour, wacky environments, and silly sight gags, it ultimately reveals itself to be a dark introspective dramedy about a toxic individual travelling through a cruel nihilistic universe, who refuses to form human connections, and uses substance abuse to hide the fact that he's deeply miserable
I love you Gals… not just because you are so beautiful, I love your reactions and different perspectives… you always make my day better. Thanks.
