American Horror Story: The Best of Angela Bassett

Published on January 4, 2021

Angela Bassett has starred in five seasons of American Horror Story including Coven, Freak Show, Hotel, Roanoke, and Apocalypse. Join GameSpot Universe as we relive the HBIC’s greatest moments on the show.

Bassett’s first (and possibly) most iconic performance has to be Coven’s Marie Laveau, who was based off a real-life person. The Voodoo Queen of New Orleans helped balance the supernatural powers of the neighboring Coven witches over at Miss Robichaux’s Academy. Lucky for us, Bassett would reprise the role for Apocalypse five years later. She followed that performance up with Freak Show’s Desiree Dupree, helping lead the troupe against the con-artist Stanley and mass murder Dandy Mott.

On Season 5’s Hotel, the legendary actress played Ramona Royale, a 1970s era actress-turned-vampire. Poor Queenie! Finally for Season 6, Bassett again starred as an AHS in-universe actress Monet Tumusiime, portraying Lee Harris in the TV documentary “My Roanoke Nightmare.”

The immensely talented and ageless Bassett is one of the greatest additions to American Horror Story. She’s a fan and critic’s favorite, earning multiple Emmy nominations during her AHS career. We can’t wait to see what she does next!
